Kirk Session Records
The congregations of the Church of Scotland and other Presbyterian churches were administered by an arrangement known as the Kirk Session. The Kirk Sessions during the 17th to 19th centuries were often concerned with cases of illegitimate birth and determining the identity of the father of the child, irregular marriages, and a great deal of other colourful information often not recorded anywhere else. They are of great value in researching your family tree.
Unfortunately few of the Kirk Session records are indexed, but given a place and an approximate year of birth, we can usually check all the Kirk Sessions that covered that area for you for £40. This fee includes copies of the records which we will email to you.E-mail us your information
