Be part of Scottish history by staying in the oldest inhabited house in Scotland! Dating back to 1107, Traquair was originally a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland. Later a refuge for Catholic priests in times of terror the Stuarts of Traquair supported Mary Queen of Scots and the Jacobite cause without counting the cost. Today Traquair is a unique piece of living history welcoming visitors from all over the world, providing a magical and romantic setting for weddings, hosting a wide range of summer events and a superb venue for corporate groups. You can even stay here in the luxurious Bed & Breakfast accommodation. |

Nancy and John Patrick Wright and their sons rescued Plane Castle from ruin during the 90's and made it their family home. They now live in the Guard House making the castle a wonderful place to rent for a few days or a week or so. Really get a feel for how Scotland used to be. |
This is a wonderful country hotel. It has real character and is in a great location. I can personally vouch for the wonderful meals and very friendly staff. Visit their site and plan your visit to Scotland soon. |
I often see the Traquair Arms Hotel while in Innerleithen. It offers great food, inviting surroundings, and comfortable accommodation in the Hotel and in its self-catering Courtyard Cottages. Innerleithen is a great base to stay, ideally situated to visit Edinburgh, explore the Border region or just relax in beautiful surroundings and walk round the local antique shops. |
